WordMate.ai is a vocabulary-learning platform that uses artificial intelligence to enhance reading and language acquisition through browser extensions, web and mobile apps, and related tools.

These Terms govern your access to and use of the Service, including any free or paid features, websites, and applications we operate.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

• You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and all activity under your account.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

3. Subscriptions, Trials, and Payments

• WordMate.ai offers free and paid subscription plans managed through Stripe.
• Paid plans renew automatically monthly unless canceled before the next billing cycle.
• A 7-day free trial may be offered and may be modified or withdrawn at any time.
• Prices, features, and usage limits may change at our sole discretion.
• Taxes, including VAT where applicable, will be added when required.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

4. Use of the Service

• Do not use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes.
• Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or resell the Service.
• Do not interfere with or disrupt our systems or networks.
• Do not misrepresent your identity or affiliation.

5. Artificial Intelligence Disclaimer

• The Service uses AI models and third-party APIs to generate or modify content.
• AI-generated or modified content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or unintended changes in meaning.
• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without guarantees regarding accuracy, completeness, or suitability.
• You use AI-generated content entirely at your own risk.

6. Data and Content

• You retain ownership of your own content and materials you upload or input.
• You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to process that content as needed to provide and improve the Service.
• We may store anonymized snippets or examples of user text to evaluate and improve system performance.
• We do not use your content to train proprietary AI models, but we may share it with third-party processors for operational purposes under GDPR-compliant agreements.

7. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property related to WordMate.ai, including trademarks, software, design, and text, is owned by Makiapps SL or its licensors. No license or right is granted except as expressly permitted in these Terms.

8. Changes to the Service

• We may add, remove, or change features at any time.
• We may modify usage thresholds, limits, or pricing.
• We may discontinue parts of the Service.
• We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes that materially affect paid subscribers.

9. Termination

You may cancel your subscription or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms or misuse the Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

• The Service is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, Makiapps SL and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
• Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid in the preceding 12 months.
• Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under Spanish law.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, with jurisdiction in the courts of Madrid. Consumers within the European Union may have additional rights under local consumer protection laws.

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be posted at https://www.wordmate.ai/terms. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
